Care & maintenance
A commercial umbrella frame is designed to outlast several canopies. The points below keep the frame, fabric and base in service and looking right across seasons of contract use.

Clean the canopy
Brush off loose dirt, then wash with mild soap and lukewarm water. Rinse and let the canopy dry fully open before closing.
Avoid bleach and solvent cleaners - they break down the coating and the colour-fastness of the fabric.
Follow the care note for the specific coating on your canopy; a PA or PU layer has its own cleaning limits.
Close and store off-season
Close overnight
On an exposed terrace, closing the canopy overnight takes the standing load off the frame and the base.
Off-season storage
Dry the canopy, lower it, and store the frame under cover or in a protective cover through the closed season.
Agree a wind policy
Set the speed at which staff close the umbrellas, and document it so the rule holds across shifts.
Frame, base and mechanism
Keep the crank, pin and locking collar free of grit; check them at the start of each season.
Check the base and fixing after storms. A bolted plate or in-ground socket should stay tight and level.
Rinse salt and pool spray from the aluminium at coastal sites; the powder coat lasts longer when it is kept clean.
Replace the canopy, not the frame
Plan replacements
Canopies wear long before frames. Confirm replacement canopies are available in the same colour when you specify.
Keep part numbers
Hold the frame and canopy part numbers together so a later swap matches the original.
One dye lot
For a site-wide rollout, order replacement canopies against the recorded lab dip so colour stays consistent.
Wind policy that protects the investment
Send your site exposure and quantity, and we return a care and storage note matched to your canopy and base specification.
