Centre pole and cantilever

Can I tilt my center pole umbrella?

Many customers ask if their center pole umbrella can tilt, and the answer depends on the specific umbrella design and tilt mechanism included. A typical center pole umbrella-also called a market umbrella-may or may not come with a built-in tilt feature. Some basic models have a fixed pole without any tilt function, while more advanced designs include an adjustable tilt mechanism, such as a push-button tilt, crank tilt, or auto-tilt system. If your umbrella has a tilt function, it is usually very easy to use. For a push-button tilt, open the umbrella fully, locate the button near the top of the pole, press it, and gently angle the canopy to your desired position. This feature allows you to adjust shade coverage as the sun moves throughout the day, without needing to reposition the entire umbrella base. Tilting your umbrella correctly helps protect you and your guests from direct sunlight and harmful UV rays. However, it’s important to remember that tilting an umbrella changes its wind resistance.

What size center pole umbrella do I need for my patio table?

To choose the right size center pole umbrella for your patio table, first measure the diameter of your table, including any overhang where people sit. As a general rule, your umbrella should extend at least 2 feet (about 60 cm) beyond the edge of the table on all sides for adequate shade.   For a 48-inch (1.2 m) round table, choose an umbrella that’s about 8 to 9 feet (2.4 to 2.7 m) in diameter. For larger dining sets, a 9 to 11-foot (2.7 to 3.3 m) umbrella is typical. Always ensure your umbrella pole fits your table’s umbrella hole and that your base is heavy enough to keep it stable in windy conditions. If your patio is in a particularly windy area, you might want to choose a wind-resistant design with sturdy ribs and vented canopies that allow air to pass through. This reduces the risk of tipping over or damage.  Lastly, think about the fabric.

How do I rotate a Roman umbrella?

To rotate your Roman umbrella properly, first ensure that your umbrella model is designed with a rotation function. Most high-quality Roman umbrellas come with a built-in swivel base or rotating foot pedal. Before you attempt to rotate the canopy, fully open the umbrella and make sure the base is secured with the proper weights or ground anchors to keep it stable during rotation. Most Roman umbrellas include a foot pedal or handle near the bottom of the pole. To rotate, gently press the foot pedal with your foot to unlock the rotation mechanism. While keeping the pedal pressed, slowly push the umbrella pole or the main arm in the direction you want the canopy to face. You can rotate it left or right depending on where you need the shade. Once you reach the desired position, release the foot pedal to lock the base in place. Always make sure the umbrella clicks back into the locked position to prevent accidental movement in windy conditions. Some Roman umbrellas have a handle-based swivel instead of a foot pedal.

Wind rating

What wind speed are the umbrellas rated for?

Our commercial umbrella range is tested to Beaufort 4 to 5 for normal commercial use, with the correct base and the canopy secured.

A heavier base improves stability, but no free-standing umbrella is storm-proof: always lower or close the canopy in high wind, and use the in-ground anchor on exposed coastal or rooftop sites.

If the site is wind-exposed, tell us the location at enquiry stage and we will specify the base and the fixing for it.

Bases and fixings

How do I choose the right umbrella base?

Base choice comes down to three things: whether the umbrella is centre pole or cantilever, the surface it stands on, and how wind-exposed the site is.

  • A centre-pole umbrella of about 2.5 m on a sheltered terrace is normally held by a 10 to 18 kg resin base. A standard 2.7 m centre-pole umbrella in commercial use is specified with a 45 kg base.
  • A cantilever umbrella carries the whole canopy load off to one side, so it needs a far heavier, low-centre base. Our modular split-steel base is built in 55 kg, 80 kg and 160 kg configurations.
  • On hard paving a flat steel or concrete slab works and can be moved. On lawns and permanent commercial schemes a buried in-ground anchor transfers the load into the ground with nothing showing above the surface.
  • A heavier base improves stability but does not make an umbrella storm-proof.

Tell us the umbrella model, the pole diameter and where it will stand, and we will specify the exact base and weight.

What weight umbrella base do I need?

Base weight depends on three things: whether the umbrella is centre pole or cantilever, the canopy diameter, and how exposed the site is. As a starting guide from our own range:A small centre pole umbrella of about 2.5 m on a sheltered terrace: a 10 to 18 kg resin base is normally enough.A standard 2.7 m centre pole umbrella in commercial use: specify a 45 kg base. Our steel-plated concrete base, 55 cm diameter and 45 cm high, with a centre-pole socket for 48 mm or 58 mm poles.A cantilever or offset umbrella: the whole canopy load sits off to one side, so the base has to be far heavier. Our modular split-steel base is built in 55 kg, 80 kg and 160 kg configurations, and large commercial cantilevers use the 360 kg welded marble base. Two practical rules. A heavier base only helps up to the wind rating of the umbrella itself: our wind-optimised centre pole umbrella is rated to Beaufort 4, about 25 km/h, and no base raises that.

Can umbrella bases be supplied in a custom colour or with branding?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body">

<p>Yes, within the limits of the material. Our steel-plated concrete base is available in grey or black, with OEM colour and finish available for project orders. The modular steel base comes in grey and wood-grain brown, the welded marble base in black or white, and the resin bases in black or bronze.</p>

<p>HDPE fillable bases take their colour from the moulding, so those are quoted as moulded in black rather than re-coloured.</p>

<p>Where a scheme needs a specific tone, send the reference, a paving sample, a facade photograph or a paint code, and we will confirm which bases in the range can be produced to it and which cannot.</p>

</div></div>

Will a heavier umbrella base stop my umbrella blowing over in a storm?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body">

<p>Only up to a point, and the limit is the umbrella rather than the base. Our wind-optimised centre pole umbrella is rated to Beaufort 4, about 25 km/h. That is the canopy's own limit, and no base raises it.</p>

<p>What the base does is hold the umbrella down up to that rating and stop it tipping or walking in a gust below it. Above the rated wind the correct action is to close the canopy, because a closed canopy presents a fraction of the open sail area.</p>

<p>So on an exposed site the answer is two things together: specify the heavier base and close the canopies at the rated wind, or specify a permanent in-ground position so the load goes into the ground. A heavier base on its own is not a storm solution.</p>

</div></div>

How much terrace space does an umbrella base take up?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body">

<p>Enough that the base should be set out on the plan rather than discovered on site. Our footprints by type:</p>

<ul>

<li>Resin centre pole bases: 42.5 cm, 44.5 cm, 50 cm and 53.5 cm diameter, with heights from 8 cm to 34 cm</li>

<li>Steel-plated concrete centre pole base: 55 cm diameter and 45 cm high</li>

<li>HDPE interlocking cross base: 50 x 50 x 7.5 cm</li>

<li>HDPE square fillable bases: 85 x 85 x 17 cm and 97 x 97 x 19 cm</li>

<li>HDPE base with handle: 90 x 90 x 21 cm</li>

<li>Welded marble base: 145 x 120 x 20 cm</li>

</ul>

<p>A square or cross base at 85 to 97 cm per side is roughly the footprint of a cafe table, so where tables are set 60 to 80 cm apart a base of that size changes the seating spacing. The low resin bases, at 50 cm diameter and 8 cm high, are the ones to choose when the base has to disappear under a table.</p>

</div></div>

What is a split umbrella base, and why choose it over one heavy slab?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body">

<p>A split base is supplied as separate steel plates that are bolted together on site, and it exists for three reasons.</p>

<p>First, weight that cannot be lifted. Our modular base is built as 4 plates in the 55 kg and 80 kg versions and 8 plates in the 160 kg version, each plate 45 x 45 cm, so one person can carry the pieces to the terrace and assemble them there.</p>

<p>Second, tolerance on site. If a location turns out windier than the drawings suggested, extra plates can be added to move up a build instead of replacing the base.</p>

<p>Third, appearance. The plates are finished in grey or wood-grain brown, so a 160 kg base can read as part of a timber deck rather than a concrete block.</p>

<p>Steel thickness also scales with the build, at 12 mm, 18 mm and 24 mm across the configurations, so the heaviest version is not simply more plates, it is thicker plate as well.</p>

</div></div>

Centre pole or cantilever: which umbrella base do I need?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body">

<p>They are not interchangeable, and mixing them up is the most common specification mistake in this category. A centre pole umbrella takes a base with a vertical socket in the middle, where the weight simply holds the pole down. A cantilever umbrella carries the canopy out on a side arm, so its base has to resist a turning force rather than a vertical one, and it needs to be built for a side pole.</p>

<p>Our range is split the same way:</p>

<ul>

<li>Centre pole bases run from 8 kg to 45 kg, in resin and steel-plated concrete, with sockets for 38 mm, 48 mm and 58 mm poles and models rated for poles up to 50 mm.</li>

<li>Cantilever and side pole bases are the modular split-steel base in 55 kg, 80 kg and 160 kg builds, the 360 kg welded marble base, and the HDPE water-fill bases in 60 L, 138 L and 180 L.</li>

</ul>

<p>Using a centre pole base under a cantilever usually looks acceptable on a layout drawing and fails on the first windy day. It is worth confirming the umbrella type before the base is specified.</p>

</div></div>

Can a heavy umbrella base be moved, and do any of them have wheels?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body">

<p>Yes, and there are three different answers depending on the base.</p>

<ul>

<li>The HDPE cross base in 130 L and 180 L fills has built-in transport castors, so it can be pushed into position before filling.</li>

<li>The 180 L cantilever base has four wheels on one side, so it is tipped and rolled rather than lifted.</li>

<li>The fillable bases are light before filling, at 13.6 kg and 15.5 kg, which is why they suit sites where the layout changes during the season.</li>

</ul>

<p>The solid bases are moved by tilting and rolling, or in the case of the 360 kg marble base and the modular steel base, by taking them apart into 10 slabs or 4 to 8 plates. Nothing in the heavy part of the range is designed to be lifted in one piece.</p>

<p>One practical point: a base that has to be drained before it can be moved should be drained early rather than on the day, because a full 180 L base weighs 180 kg with water or 250 kg with sand.</p>

</div></div>

Can an umbrella base be buried so it does not show?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body">

<p>Yes. We supply a 13 mm iron in-ground base that is buried and fixed below the surface, so the pole comes straight out of the lawn or paving and nothing is visible above ground.</p>

<p>It is the right choice where a portable base would be in the way or would walk: lawns, squares, and commercial schemes that need a permanent position. It is also the only option that takes the base out of the wind problem completely, because the load goes into the ground rather than into a weight sitting on the surface.</p>

<p>The trade-off is that the position is permanent. An in-ground base cannot be moved for an event or re-laid for a season, so it should be set out with the same care as any other buried fixing, and it suits a site where the layout is already decided.</p>

<p>If you tell us the pole diameter and the ground build-up, we will confirm the fixing detail for the project.</p>

</div></div>

Which umbrella base should I specify for a hotel poolside or beach club?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>For large commercial cantilevers at a poolside or beach club we normally quote the 360 kg welded marble base.</p><p>It is built as 10 marble slabs of 46 x 46 x 5 cm, roughly 28 kg each and about 280 kg in total, carried in a welded steel frame. The overall footprint is 145 x 120 x 20 cm, and it is available in black or white. It is specified for hotels, resorts, poolside lounges, beach clubs, restaurants and luxury villas.</p><p>Two practical notes. At 145 x 120 cm the base sets the spacing of everything around it, so the sun-lounger or table layout is worth fixing before the base is ordered rather than after. And because it is assembled on site from slabs, plan access for the individual pieces rather than the assembled base.</p><p>Colour is usually decided by the surroundings: white reads well against pale pool paving, black against light stone or timber decking.</p></div></div>

How do I know which umbrella base fits my pole?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body">

<p>Measure the outside diameter of the pole at the point where it enters the base, not at the top. A tapered pole is thinner at the bottom, and that lower dimension is what the socket has to accept.</p>

<p>Our range covers the common sizes:</p>

<ul>

<li>38 mm, 48 mm and 58 mm sockets as separate models</li>

<li>Bases rated for poles up to 50 mm</li>

<li>Dual-fit bases that accept both 38 mm and 48 mm poles in one base</li>

</ul>

<p>If the pole is not one of those sizes, send us the measurement and we will quote a socket to suit. Two exceptions are worth knowing: a cross base holds the pole with a plate and bolts rather than a socket, so it fits a range of diameters, and an in-ground base has no socket at all because the pole is set into the ground.</p>

</div></div>

What is the difference between a fillable umbrella base and a solid one?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body">

<p>A fillable base ships empty and light. Our HDPE models weigh 13.6 kg and 15.5 kg before filling, then reach 60 kg, 138 kg or 180 kg once filled with water. That makes them cheaper to ship and easy for one person to carry onto a terrace, and several have built-in castors or a wheeled side so the base can be tipped and rolled into position.</p>

<p>A solid base ships at its working weight: resin bases from 8 kg to 19 kg, a steel-plated concrete base at 45 kg, modular steel plates from 55 kg to 160 kg, and a welded marble base at 360 kg. There is nothing to fill, nothing to drain, and nothing that can be left half empty by mistake.</p>

<p>The usual split in practice is fillable bases for terraces that get re-arranged, or where nobody will maintain a fill level, and solid bases for fixed commercial layouts where reliability matters more than shipping cost.</p>

</div></div>

Should I fill an umbrella base with water or sand?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body">

<p>Sand gives more weight in the same tank. From our actual products: the 60 L interlocking base reaches 60 kg with water or 80 kg with sand, and the 180 L base reaches 180 kg with water or 250 kg with sand.</p>

<p>Water is the easier option. It can be filled from a hose and drained in minutes, which suits a terrace that gets re-arranged. The trade-offs are that it evaporates over a hot season, it can freeze in winter, and it needs a water point on site.</p>

<p>Sand is heavier for the same volume, does not evaporate and does not freeze, which suits a base that stays in one position all season. The trade-off is that it is much harder to empty if the base ever has to be moved.</p>

<p>Either way, check the fill level at the start of the season. A base that is half empty is the most common reason a canopy starts moving in a light wind, and it is also the cheapest problem in the category to prevent.</p>

2. Outdoor Furniture8 Q&A

Framework, coatings, cushions, load ratings, shipping configuration and care across the outdoor furniture ranges.

Aluminium or steel - which frame should I specify?

Both are commercial grade; the choice is about environment and handling.

  • Aluminium (our default for most hospitality work): naturally corrosion-resistant, lighter to move and install, and the right call for coastal, poolside and rooftop sites where salt air would attack steel. Powder-coated aluminium does not rust.
  • Steel (galvanised and powder-coated): denser and more rigid per kilo, often preferred for fixed heavy-use pieces inland. It needs the coating intact - any scratch on bare steel should be touched up to prevent rust.

Rule of thumb: within about 5 km of the coast, or anywhere with a chlorinated pool, specify aluminium. Inland and budget-driven, steel is fine with proper coating care.

We build both. Tell us the site and we will advise the frame.

What powder-coat finish do the frames use?

Frames are electrostatic powder-coated after fabrication, so the inside of a frame and the back of a panel carry the same finish as the face that is seen, and the colour is matched to your RAL or Pantone reference.

A marine-grade coating is available for coastal and poolside projects. The coating specification for a specific line is confirmed on the specification sheet.

Are the cushions weatherproof, and can they stay outside?

Cushion covers are water-repellent outdoor fabrics, and the foam is quick-dry (open-cell) so it drains after rain.

They are made to live outdoors through a season, but for the longest life we recommend storing cushions in a dry, ventilated space over winter or using a breathable cover. The fabric and foam specification for a specific line is confirmed on the specification sheet.

What weight can the chairs and tables hold?

Our seating and tables are built for contract use, and the static load rating is confirmed per model, because it follows the frame and the seat construction.

Tell us the model and we will send the figure. It is also stated on the specification sheet for the line.

Are the chairs stackable or knock-down for shipping?

Most of our aluminium chairs are stackable or knock-down (KD) to cut freight and warehouse space. On some lines a stack holds ten or eleven chairs, and KD versions pack flatter still - on one of our chair ranges the flat-packed version loads about 40 percent more into a 40HQ than the stacked version of the same chair.

Stacking depth and carton size follow the model, and the packed configuration and container count are confirmed per order.

Can the furniture stay outside all year, and how do I winterise it?

Aluminium frames are fine outdoors year-round. For winter we recommend: brush off debris, rinse with fresh water (especially near the coast, to remove salt), dry, and either store cushions indoors or fit breathable covers. Leave the frames as they are.

Steel pieces should be checked for coating scratches and touched up before the wet season.

Is the furniture suitable for commercial use, and what compliance applies?

Yes. Our seating and tables are built for contract and hospitality use, and the certifications we hold are published on our Certificates page with their dates.

For contract and hospitality projects we offer fire-retardant cushion fabrics, and we can supply REACH and material declarations for tender and customs use. Tell us the market and we will match the document set.

How do I clean and maintain the furniture?
  • Frame: mild soap, water and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads. Rinse salt off coastal installations regularly.
  • Cushions: zip off the covers, cool wash, air dry. Never tumble dry.
  • Timber elements, where a piece has them: oil annually.

Full care steps are on each product page.

4. Buying Guide3 Q&A

How to choose, how to sample before you commit, and how an order starts.

How do I choose the right outdoor umbrella for my project?

Choosing the right outdoor umbrella depends on your project requirements, application environment, and design goals. Before making a decision, consider the following factors: 1. Application Space Determine where the umbrella will be used, such as hotels, resorts, restaurants, cafes, pool areas, terraces, or outdoor lounges. Different spaces may require different umbrella designs and coverage areas. 2. Umbrella Type Center pole umbrellas are suitable for traditional outdoor seating areas, while cantilever umbrellas provide flexible shading solutions without a central pole. Large commercial umbrellas are ideal for hospitality projects requiring wider coverage. 3. Size and Coverage Choose the umbrella size based on the available space, furniture layout, and the number of users. Proper sizing ensures effective shade coverage and improves outdoor comfort. 4. Materials and Durability High-quality aluminum frames, UV-resistant fabrics, and weather-resistant components help ensure long-term performance in outdoor environments. 5.

6. Customization2 Q&A

Branding, colours, and how far a specification can be moved from the catalogue.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom umbrellas?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><div><span style="">MOQ depends on which part of the order is being customised, so here is the</span></div><div><span style="">actual split rather than a single number.</span></div><div><span style=""><br></span></div><div><span style="">Catalogue models, no changes: 50 pcs, and colours and models can be mixed</span></div><div><span style="">in one order.</span></div><div><span style=""><br></span></div><div><span style="">Light customisation - fabric colour matched to a Pantone reference, logo by</span></div><div><span style="">screen print or heat transfer, custom handle, printed cartons: 100 pcs, with</span></div><div><span style="">printed cartons starting at 200 pieces.</span></div><div><span style=""><br></span></div><div><span style="">Structural customisation - new size or shape, frame structure, base mounting,</span></div><div><span style="">integrated LED: 300 pcs.</span></div><div><span style=""><br></span></div><div><span style="">Full OEM or ODM - new mould or new mechanism: quoted per project, because</span></div><div><span style="">tooling and testing are involved.</span></div><div><span style=""><br></span></div><div><span style="">Two things usually lower the number: sharing one fabric colour across several</span></div><div><span style="">models, and repeating a specification you have already run, since a repeat</span></div><div><span style="">order does not carry first-run MOQ.</span></div><div><span style=""><br></span></div><div><span style="">Send us the model reference, the customisation you need and your target</span></div><div><span style="">quantity, and we will confirm the exact MOQ in writing before you commit.</span></div><div><br></div></div></div>

How far can you customise size, shape and colour?

Standard canopy sizes run from 2.1 x 2.1 m to 5 x 5 m, and larger project sizes are quoted on the enquiry.

Canopy and frame colours are matched to a Pantone or RAL reference against a physical sample, and logo printing is available on canopy panels, valances and the frame.

Custom canopy colours start from 50 pcs per size, and the minimum quantity moves with the version. Send the layout and the colour reference and we will confirm feasibility and the minimum for it.

7. Orders, MOQ & Samples4 Q&A

Minimum quantities, mixed loads, samples, quotations and returns.

What is your minimum order quantity?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>Our minimum order quantity is normally one 40HQ container, and on several lines the figure works out exactly to that:</p><ul><li>adjustable back armchair: 360 chairs, which is one 40HQ</li><li>extendable table: 1 x 40HQ, which is 160 tables</li><li>corner sofa set: 56 sets, which is one 40HQ</li><li>6-piece corner set: 52 sets, which is two 40HQ loadings at 26 sets each</li></ul><p>A few items start lower than a full container. is 10 sets and is 350 pcs. Customised umbrellas are a separate case with their own minimum, which we cover in the customisation question.</p><p>The reason the minimum usually tracks the container is packing economics rather than policy: at one container the loading plan, the carton schedule and the freight cost all line up, and the per-set landed cost is at its lowest. Below a full container we quote mixed loading instead, which is the subject of the next question.</p></div></div>

Can I order less than a full container, or mix products?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>Yes. Mixed loading is exactly how we handle an order that does not fill a container on its own.</p><p>A container can be filled with more than one item from the same range, and the combination is quoted per mix rather than at the single-item container price. In practice this means a project can order, say, dining chairs together with the table from the same range and fill one container with both, instead of committing to a full container of one code.</p><p>The base range works the same way: the 45KG base, the 160KG base and the 360KG base can be mixed in one container.</p><p>Tell us the items, the quantities and the destination port, and we will build the loading plan and quote the mix. If your mix is close to a full container, we will say so, because at that point a single-code container is usually the cheaper route.</p></div></div>

How do I get a quotation?

Price is quoted per order rather than published, because the version, the quantity and the shipping terms all move the number.

Send the models or the layout, the quantity, the colour or branding if there is any, and the destination port, and a quotation comes back with the specification and the packing plan.

If your procurement process needs a formal quotation on your own template, send us the template and we will complete it.

Do you accept returns if there is no fault?

Made-to-order goods - custom colours, branded canopies and non-catalogue versions - cannot be returned once production has started, because they cannot be resold.

On catalogue versions, returns are handled case by case: tell us what is coming back, in what condition and from which port, and we will confirm the terms in writing before anything ships back. Faulty goods are covered by the warranty instead.

8. Shipping & Logistics9 Q&A

Production, transit, inspection, declaration and order tracking.

How long is production and delivery?

Two stages: production, then shippingProduction- Stock models: 30 days- Custom fabric, colour or branding: add around 10 days- Pre-production sample, if you want one: the clock starts after you approve the specShipping (port to port)- US West Coast: 18 to 25 days- US East Coast: 30 to 35 days- Northern Europe: 30 to 35 days- Middle East (Jebel Ali): 18 to 22 days- Australia: 15 to 20 daysOn top of that, add customs clearance and inland delivery to your address - those depend on your forwarder and destination, so we don't quote them as our transit time. What changes the schedule- Peak season (March to July) - container space out of Ningbo gets tight, book 4 weeks ahead- Custom branding and Pantone colour matching- Chinese public holidays - Chinese New Year shuts production for around two weeksHow we keep you informedWe confirm your production slot when the deposit lands, and send photos of the finished goods before shipment.

Do you provide international shipping for large-scale outdoor umbrella projects?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>Yes. Foris Hortus provides international shipping support for large-scale outdoor umbrella projects worldwide. We cooperate with experienced logistics partners to ensure safe transportation, efficient delivery, and professional service for hotels, resorts, restaurants, and commercial spaces in different regions.<br></p></div></div>

Which port do you ship from, and what trade terms do you quote?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>We ship FOB Ningbo, and every price published on this site is quoted on FOB terms.</p><p>Ningbo is the port our containers leave from. If you would rather we arranged the sea leg, we also quote Ex-works and CIF to your destination port on request.</p><p>Two practical points follow from that.</p><ul><li>Because the standard quotation is FOB, the sea freight is normally arranged by you or your forwarder. Give us the destination port with your enquiry if you want a CIF figure instead, and we will price the freight into the quotation.</li><li>Our loading plans are built around 40HQ containers rather than 20GP, and every loading figure we publish is a 40HQ figure. Tell us the destination port and the quantity, and we will confirm the loading plan and a delivered price.</li></ul></div></div>

What inspection can I arrange before shipment and after arrival?

We support third party inspection before shipment, and we treat it as normal rather than exceptional. Our published quality terms on the furniture range read as follows. Before shipment, we support third party inspection, and the accessories are inspected against the order before the container is loaded. After arrival, the buyer has one month from receiving the goods to appoint a professional third party to inspect them and send us the report. Where that inspection finds major quality problems, the goods are returned to our factory and we bear the freight.Production quality problems can also be raised within three months of arrival, with evidence such as photographs or video, so we can confirm the cause. Where the goods are confirmed to be our fault, we reissue the corresponding parts, and we bear the freight.

Which HS codes do you use, and how is the goods declared?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>Four HS codes cover the range, and the correct one is stated on each product page:</p><ul><li>9401719000: outdoor chairs, the code used on most of the chair range</li><li>9401790000: outdoor chairs on the aluminium lines, for example the white aluminium armchair and the white round tube armchair</li><li>9403899000: outdoor tables, for example </li><li>9403700000: plastic items</li></ul><p>Where a set contains both a table and chairs, two codes apply and are both published, for example 9403899000 for the table and 9401719000 for the chairs. Place of origin is China (Zhejiang).</p><p>The commercial declaration we use describes the material and construction rather than a brand, for example outdoor furniture, fabric, iron frame, upholstered or not upholstered, no brand. If your broker needs the declaration worded to a specific template, send us the wording and we will match it on the shipping documents.</p><p>Tell us the destination country when you enquire. Duty rates and any import requirements are set by your customs authority, so it is worth confirming the code that applies at your end before you cost the shipment.</p></div></div>

What are the gross and net weights of a shipment?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>Gross and net weights are published per item so you can plan freight, insurance and unloading without waiting for a packing list. Examples from the current range:</p><ul><li>white aluminium armchair: 28.2 kg gross and 23.7 kg net for a six-chair carton, about 3.95 kg net per chair</li><li>white round tube armchair: 17 kg gross and 15 kg net</li><li>extendable table: 45.5 kg gross and 39.5 kg net</li><li>5-piece set: 84 kg gross and 74 kg net (B1), 80/70 kg (B2), 64/63 kg (C1), 68/63 kg (C2, D1)</li><li>4-piece set: 71 kg gross and 66 kg net per set</li><li>corner sofa set: 90 kg gross and 85 kg net</li></ul><p>Two things to note. The gap between gross and net is the carton and internal packing, so the gross figure is the one to use for freight and manual handling. And on multi-configuration lines the weight follows the configuration, as shows, so confirm the weight against the version you are ordering.</p></div></div>

What are the carton sizes and volume per set?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>Carton detail is published on every product page, and it is worth reading before you plan a container because the volume per set varies more than the loading figures suggest.</p><p>Chairs:</p><ul><li>white round tube armchair: carton 58 x 68 x 93 cm, three chairs per carton, 0.367 CBM</li><li>white aluminium armchair: six chairs per carton, 77 x 58 x 110 cm, 0.491 CBM</li><li>adjustable back armchair: nine chairs stacked per carton</li></ul><p>Tables:</p><ul><li>extendable table: carton 228.5 x 131.5 x 14 cm, one table per carton, 0.421 CBM</li></ul><p>Sofa sets:</p><ul><li>5-piece set: two export cartons per set, 0.842 to 1.07 CBM per set depending on the configuration</li><li>4-piece set: 1.006 CBM per set</li><li>4-piece set: 1.165 CBM per set</li><li>4-piece set: 1.764 CBM per set</li><li>6-piece corner set: four cartons per set, 3.23 CBM per set</li></ul><p>Because the volume per set drives the loading figure, the two are worth reading together. A set that packs at 3.23 CBM per set and one at 1.006 CBM per set will fill the same 40HQ with very different numbers of sets. Where a range has several configurations, the carton schedule for the exact configuration is confirmed on the order.</p></div></div>

How many units fit in one 40HQ container?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>Every loading figure we publish is quoted against a 40HQ container. Representative examples from the current range:</p><ul><li>white aluminium armchair: 870 chairs</li><li>high-back armchair: 400 chairs stacked (A1) or 700 knock-down in cartons (A2)</li><li>high-back armchair with wood armrests: 396 stacked (A1) or 568 in cartons (A2)</li><li>white round tube armchair: 576 chairs</li><li>rope weave armchair: 1,200 pcs (A1) or 1,020 pcs (C1/C2)</li><li>adjustable back armchair: 360 chairs, nine to a carton</li><li>120 cm round table: 330 tables</li><li>extendable table: 160 tables</li><li>4-piece sofa set: 66 sets</li><li>4-piece sofa set: 52 sets</li><li>4-piece sofa set: 38 sets</li><li>5-piece rope weave set: 39 sets (B1) or 43 sets (B2, B3)</li><li>6-piece corner set: 26 sets</li></ul><p>Two things are worth knowing before you plan a container. A knock-down build almost always loads more than the stacked version of the same chair, which is why the high-back armchair moves from 400 to 700 and from 396 to 568. And a loading figure is for that single item filling a container; when two products share one container the mix is quoted per mix rather than by adding the two figures together.</p></div></div>

How can I track my order after it is confirmed?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>After each contract is signed we assign a unique order number, and that number can be used to track the progress of the order on our website. You do not have to ask for a status update to know where the goods are.</p><p>The tracking runs through seven published stages:</p><ul><li>Order Confirmation</li><li>Production Scheduling</li><li>Material Procurement</li><li>Production Process Tracking</li><li>Quality Control and Inspection</li><li>Packaging and Shipping</li><li>Delivery and Feedback</li></ul><p>Two points worth knowing. Production scheduling follows order confirmation, so you get a clear view of the start date and the expected finish date early rather than near the end. And Quality Control and Inspection is one of the tracked stages rather than a separate conversation, which is where third party inspection sits if you want to appoint one before the container is loaded.</p><p>If you would like a written update at each stage rather than checking the website, tell us at order stage and we will send one.</p></div></div>

9. Warranty, Quality & Compliance4 Q&A

What is covered, what happens when something arrives damaged, payment terms and certification.

What warranty do you provide, and what does it cover?

Our products carry a 12-month warranty from the date of loading, covering manufacturing defects in the frame, the mechanism and the fabric.

It does not cover storm or wind damage, misuse, or normal wear, and it does not cover the cost of labour on site. Replacement parts and canopies are supplied under the warranty.

We stock spares for the product lines we supply, so a repair does not have to wait on a new production run.

What happens if goods arrive damaged or defective?

Notify us as soon as the container is unpacked, with photographs of the damage and of the carton, and we will replace the affected parts or units.

For full-container shipments we also support the carrier claim - keep the cartons and the packing as they arrived until the claim is closed, because the forwarder will ask for them.

Spare parts and replacement canopies are stocked for the product lines we supply.

What are your payment terms?

Terms are stated on each quotation and confirmed on the pro-forma before production.

The deposit, the balance trigger and the accepted payment methods are set per order, and letter of credit terms are available for qualified accounts.

Tell us at enquiry stage if your process requires a specific structure, and we will quote to it.

What certifications does your company hold?

Four certifications are current, and all are published on our Certificates page with their dates:ISO 9001 quality management system, covering the manufacturing and sales of furniture articles including outdoor shade umbrellas. This is our core quality management certification and is the one that governs how the workshop operates day to day.FSC, the Forest Stewardship Council certification, which means every piece of wood we use is responsibly sourced from sustainably managed forests, with chain of custody.EN 581, the European standard for outdoor furniture, covering the safety and durability testing of outdoor seating and tables. EN 581-1:2017, EN 581-2:2015 and EN 581-3:2017 all apply to the range.Alibaba Gold Plus Verified Supplier, an accreditation verified by third party authoritative institutions, covering enterprise qualification, production capacity and export service capability. Two practical notes.

10. About Us3 Q&A

Who you are buying from, where the work happens, and how to meet the team.

Are you a manufacturer or a trading company?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>We are a manufacturer. Frames are welded, finished and upholstered in our own workshop in Zhejiang, and then packed for export.</p><p>This is not a market-positioning claim, it is where the work happens. Because the frame, the finish and the upholstery are all in house, a project can change the frame colour and the cushion fabric without changing the supplier, and the specification can be built around your space rather than around what happens to be in stock.</p><p>What that means for you in practice:</p><ul><li>A custom frame colour, rope tone or fabric is a production change, not a sourcing problem, so it does not put a second supplier between you and your order.</li><li>Quality questions are answered by the people who made the piece, which is why we can support third party inspection before shipment and reissue parts rather than negotiate.</li><li>Delivery is quoted against a published container loading plan for the exact version you order.</li></ul><p>If your procurement process needs a factory audit or a formal supplier questionnaire before you place an order, tell us at enquiry stage and we will support it.</p></div></div>

Where are your company and factory located?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>Our company is Linhai Fenghui Home Furnishing Co., Ltd., and we are based in Linhai, Zhejiang Province, China. Our postal code is 317000.</p><p>Location matters more than it looks in this industry. Zhejiang is China's main producing region for outdoor furniture and shade umbrellas, which is why the frame welding, the powder coating and the upholstery are all available locally and why a finish change does not send your order across the country. Containers leave from Ningbo, which is a short run from the workshop.</p><p>How to reach us:</p><ul><li>Phone and WhatsApp or WeChat: +86 13282468266</li><li>Email: janetwoo@forishortus.com</li><li>Postal address: Linhai, Zhejiang Province, China, 317000</li></ul><p>If you need the full street address for a shipping document, a courier or a factory audit, ask us at enquiry stage and we will send it. We keep the public listing at city level and issue the full address on request.</p></div></div>

Where can I meet your team in person?

<div class="simditor"><div class="simditor-body"><p>We meet buyers in person at two fairs in Guangzhou each year, both in October:</p><ul><li>The Canton Fair, in Guangzhou, where we exhibit our outdoor collections</li><li>The Jinhan Fair for Home &amp; Gifts, at the Poly World Trade Center Expo in Guangzhou</li></ul><p>We deliberately do not print fixed dates and stand numbers in this answer, because they change every edition and a stale stand number is worse than none. Stand numbers and confirmed dates for each edition are published on our News page as soon as we have them, and our team sends them to buyers who are already in contact with us.</p><p>If you would like to meet at the next edition, tell us which fair and which day and we will confirm our stand and hold a time slot for you.</p><p>Factory visits are also welcome. Buyers who are already in China, or who want to see the frames welded and the upholstery made before placing a substantial order, can arrange to visit us in Linhai, Zhejiang. Contact us with your travel dates and we will set the visit up.</p></div></div>
