How do I choose the right umbrella size for my space?

Most buyers size to the table and then wonder why the sun still reaches the guests. Size to the shaded area you actually need, not the furniture footprint.

A simple method

• Measure the zone - the full area people occupy at midday, including chairs pulled out.
• Add clearance - the canopy should overhang the zone by roughly 0.5 m on each side.
• Plan for the sun's arc - a single umbrella rarely covers morning and afternoon equally; allow overlap or pick a rotatable cantilever.
