What wind rating do your umbrellas have?

Wind performance depends on three things working together: the frame, the base, and how the umbrella is secured. Our commercial frames use powder-coated aluminum engineered for everyday outdoor stability, but no umbrella should be left open in a storm.

How should I use it in wind?

As a general rule, close and secure the canopy when sustained winds pick up or a storm is forecast. Wind gusts can exceed a frame's design load even on calm-looking days.

Can you rate it for my site?

Yes. Tell us your location, typical weather and mounting surface, and we will recommend a model, base and any fixings that match the expected wind exposure. If you have tested wind-speed data, share it and we will state the exact rating.

Wind rating by model

Wind performance is model-dependent. Our centre pole and Roman umbrellas are rated for everyday garden breezes, while the commercial cantilever and large square models are engineered for open terraces and pool decks. Typical tested resistance ranges from Beaufort 4 to Beaufort 6 depending on size, base, and mount; we publish the class per model on the spec sheet.

How to reach the rated wind

The rating only holds when the correct base or in-ground mount is used and the umbrella is closed before a storm. A 3.5 m cantilever on a light base will not meet its class. For exposed sites we recommend the in-ground anchor or a heavy split base and lower tilt angles in strong gusts.

Safety note

No parasol should be left open in a storm. Wind ratings describe resistance to passing gusts, not a licence to leave large canopies deployed in severe weather. Closing and securing the unit is always the safe choice.

How long is the service life of your outdoor umbrellas?

Yes. Our outdoor umbrellas are designed with durable materials and professional structures to withstand outdoor environments. With proper maintenance, they can provide reliable performance for many years.

Expected service life

With normal commercial use and seasonal care, our aluminium-frame umbrellas typically deliver 5 to 8 years of service, and replacement canopies extend that further. The canopy itself is the wear item and is designed to be replaced in minutes, so you refresh the look without replacing the whole unit.

What affects longevity

Life span depends on sun exposure, wind events, and off-season storage. Closing umbrellas in storms, using a protective cover, and storing canopies dry through winter are the three habits that add years. Coastal sites should rinse frames monthly to remove salt. We supply spare parts so a single worn component never scraps a good frame.

Many clients keep a spare canopy on hand so a faded or stained top is a five-minute swap rather than a lost season, which is the most cost-effective way to keep a terrace looking sharp. Replacing the canopy rather than the whole umbrella also keeps waste and cost down.

What materials are used for your outdoor umbrellas?

Our outdoor umbrellas are made with premium materials including weather-resistant fabrics, durable aluminum structures, and high-quality components to ensure long-lasting outdoor performance.

Frame and canopy materials

Frames use powder-coated aluminium or galvanised and powder-coated steel, chosen by model and wind requirement. Aluminium keeps the umbrella light and corrosion-resistant for coastal sites; steel adds mass and stiffness for large cantilevers.

Fabric grades

Canopies use solution-dyed acrylic with a 50+ UV rating, mould-resistant finish, and colourfastness rated to 1000+ fade hours. We also offer recycled and PVC-free options on request. All stitching uses UV-stable thread and reinforced stress points at the rib tips and hub.

Hardware and finishes

Moving parts use stainless or zinc-plated hardware. The powder-coat finish is applied in a controlled line with pre-treatment so the colour holds up in sun, salt, and rain across commercial seasons.

How the process works

Share your site photo, preferred dimensions, and brand colours. We return a specification sheet and a CAD drawing, then a prototype or pre-production sample for sign-off. Bulk production follows the approved sample so what you receive matches exactly. This is suitable for one-off signature projects and for repeat hospitality programmes alike.
